MY STORY
I was born and educated in the Netherlands, and after studying physiotherapy, I worked in the development sector in South Asia in different countries for several decades. I co-founded an educational foundation where I headed the Resource Mobilization Department and then later my attention shifted to training and development. My specific interest was in developing and conducting experiential training programs for youth, educators and corporate professionals.
In 2010, my interest in mental health and holistic wellbeing developed and I became a UK-CPCAB certified integrative therapist and supervisor. I am also a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP). I was keen to support student therapists and facilitated a Level 4 UK-CPCAB accredited Diploma course in Therapeutic Counselling for four years. In addition, I completed a Master in Education in 2016.
I incorporate both humanistic and psychodynamic approaches and have a special interest in the relational aspect of therapy. I work with individuals and couples of all ages and supervise therapists and those working in the helping profession.
Having lived in South Asia, I understand the intricacies of cultural diversity and the nuances within family systems. As an expat living overseas, I am also familiar with the challenges that come from living abroad and adapting to another culture.
I have worked within a multi-disciplinary setting in a rehabilitation center and in a center that supports families, parents and adolescents with diverse abilities and needs.
My personal view is that everyone could benefit from therapy at some point in their life and I would be happy to walk that journey of discovery and exploration with you.
You can find more information about my work in the ‘Services’ section.
